Summary

One summer day, Xi Men Qing enjoys wine and lotus flowers with his wives and concubines. Concern arises when Li Ping Er, pregnant, experiences severe stomach pain. Despite initial reassurances, her condition worsens, prompting calls for a midwife. As the household anxiously awaits her arrival, Pan Jinlian expresses jealousy towards Li Ping Er. Eventually, the midwife arrives, and after a tense period, Li Ping Er gives birth to a son. The family rejoices, and Xi Men Qing celebrates with relatives. He also hires a wet nurse for the newborn. Later, news arrives of Xi Men Qing’s promotion to a significant official position, bringing further joy to the household.
