Chapter 64: Yellow Tiger, Black Snake (2). [130]

Summary

At the White Python River, the merchant dock is silent, with the fleets of the thirty-two noble families of the Great Jin moored and only a few sailors remaining. The dock is empty as chaos reigns in Bi Zhou City, where laborers and ruffians engage in violence. Wild dogs roam the area, while the noble sailors lack their usual arrogance. A long black canopy boat arrives, propelled upstream by four muscular men, who draw the attention of the sailors. Tension builds as the sailors attempt to mock the newcomers, but the fierce gazes of the muscular men intimidate them. Hu Ge, a towering figure, emerges from the boat, accompanied by a black snake. He and his companions discuss the situation, noting the presence of the noble families and their intentions in Bi Zhou. The group of burly men on the boat banter with Hu Ge, who is urged to gather information without causing trouble. Despite warnings, Hu Ge senses something amiss in the distance and decides to investigate, asserting their claim over Bi Zhou territory.
