Chapter 63: The True Nature of the Martial Arts Hall. [62]
Summary
In this chapter, Sawayama Haruno and Mine Shiori attend a martial arts event at a gym that, despite being large, feels rather shabby to Haruno. Shiori explains that the venue's size is adequate for its intended use, even if Haruno believes it should accommodate more spectators. As they settle into the audience, Shiori expresses a desire to find Ezaki Naoha, who is participating in a women's kendo competition. As competitors start to take the stage, Haruno notices the youthful participants, especially the number of girls, and regrets that their protective gear obscures their movements. Mine Shiori leaves briefly to assist Naoha, who seems confident about her match. Haruno, left to his own devices, does not seem too engaged by the surroundings but considers recording the match for a friend. When the match begins, Sawayama Haruno recognizes Ezaki Naoha, who quickly displays her skill by winning the first round with a decisive strike. The suited man sitting behind Haruno provides insights into the nature of kendo and the significance of each strike, while Haruno reflects on Naoha's impressive abilities. Throughout the match, Naoha continues to dominate her opponents, asserting her strength and skill in kendo, which impresses Haruno. As the event progresses and Naoha accumulates victories, Haruno's interest wanes, especially once she finishes competing. The chapter closes with Haruno feeling bored and unsure of Shiori's whereabouts, just before she calls him.Full content
