Summary

A scholar, Ning Li Heng, was stopped by officials and soldiers from the Wu Lie army while traveling in a cart. They were searching for an assassin who had killed a captain, Song Xian, and injured dozens of people. Ning Li Heng claimed to be a poet and acquaintance of Ming Gong, and the officials, recognizing his name, treated him with respect. After the officials and soldiers left, Ning Li Heng revealed his true intentions: to lure the assassin onto his cart. He spoke aloud, criticizing Song Xian's ruthless behavior and offering to help the assassin. A woman, the assassin, was hiding under the cart and eventually fell unconscious due to her injuries. Ning Li Heng found her and took her to a rented courtyard, where he began to treat her wounds. However, she woke up quickly and held a sword to his neck.
