Summary

The emperor issued an imperial edict allowing Du Yu to establish a Confucian school and participate in the imperial examination. The high-ranking families were shocked and opposed the decision. Du Yu announced that he would establish a girls' school, which caused a bigger uproar. He explained that the girls' school would be managed by women, have female teachers, and allow girls to take the imperial examination. The citizens were still skeptical, but Du Yu was determined to promote gender equality in education. He introduced the faculty of the girls' school, including two noble women who would teach the rites subject. The crowd was stunned by the appearance of the noble women, and the venue fell silent.
