Judgment of Dayu.

Chapter 6: The Zhen Brothers and Dayu's Martial Arts World. [8]

Summary

Dayu admired the Zhen brothers for exposing Shang Jun's flaws and promised to reward them for their loyalty. They conspired to encourage Shang Jun's indulgent behavior to diminish his ambition, even using public funds for his pleasures. The Zhen brothers established an amusement park to further corrupt young lords and win over palace guards. A confrontation between Shang Jun and Gao Tao's son at the park led to further damage to Shang Jun's reputation. Gao Tao, initially unaware of the Zhen brothers' manipulation, grew suspicious as his son's lifestyle changed. Upon inspecting flood control funds, he discovered Dayu's misuse but chose not to report it after Dayu's persuasion. Dayu, wary of Gao Tao, sought to win him over with fine wine, which softened Gao Tao's stance. With Gao Tao's support, Dayu faced little opposition from other ministers. He also cultivated a friendship with Yi, a trusted advisor to Emperor Shun, further solidifying his position. At home, Dayu reassured his wife of their future wealth and glory once he ascended the throne.
