Summary

In this chapter, Ji Rong defends herself to Dongbo Snow Eagle, asserting that she had no part in the death of a little beggar, which was caused by her family's servant. Qing Shi is torn, wanting to defend Ji Rong but feeling the weight of his brother's authority. As Qing Shi confronts Xue Ying, tensions rise. Xue Ying presents evidence suggesting Ji Rong's family has a dark history, which angers Qing Shi. Despite his pleas, Xue Ying insists on a breakup, offering a three-year separation to uncover the truth about Ji Rong's family. Qing Shi is devastated, feeling betrayed by his brother and storms out, leaving Xue Ying conflicted and heartbroken over the rift with his brother. The chapter ends with Xue Ying reflecting on his feelings as he drinks alone, worried about Qing Shi's well-being.
