Summary

In the eerie campus camphor forest at night, Liu Shu, the narrator, and Xue Qing search for their missing partner Zhen Zhen. They encounter a ghostly woman in a white hospital gown holding a dead baby with unnaturally white skin. The ghost warns them to stop their investigation or face death. Xue Qing confronts the ghost, shooting her in the shoulder, but the ghost remains unharmed. During the confrontation, the baby is dropped, and the narrator discovers its feet are bizarrely fused together like a mermaid's.
