Summary

Li Da Qi and his son, Li Yan Qing, leave their ancestral hall and visit a town where Li Da Qi contemplates giving money to Liu Cheng Hong, despite his son's concerns about further debts. Li Yan Qing, feeling the weight of their family's poverty, expresses his desire to improve their situation through writing and selling goods. After Li Da Qi leaves for the county, Li Yan Qing practices igniting fire sticks but is suddenly attacked by a large mastiff. He defends himself and Da Hei, his dog, ultimately killing the mastiff. Liu Cheng Hong arrives, furious about his dog’s death, but Li Yan Qing stands his ground, asserting that the mastiff attacked first. Hu Sheng intervenes, suggesting they resolve the matter rationally.
