Chapter 59: The First Round of Testing: Bread and Blood. [58]
Summary
In the chapter, the main character Orson undergoes a series of physical tests to evaluate his strength and abilities, guided by Kelsey, Dubin, and a creature named Mon3tr. The first test measures physical strength, where Orson is given the choice of using either a wooden stick or a baguette to strike his own head. He chooses the wooden stick, leading to an embarrassing result of "normal" strength, which doesn't impress him as he represents the Unified Integration Movement. Next, the focus shifts to "Battlefield mobility," where Orson is shown various obstacle courses classified by difficulty. He chooses the "excellent" test, using his Originium arts to navigate the course swiftly, breaking the previous record. In contrast, another test-taker named Hong showcases even greater agility, evading laser grids with seemingly impossible movements. The chapter then transitions to the "Physiological Endurance" test, where Orson attempts to withstand different extreme temperature environments. He fails to impress, with his endurance also rated as "ordinary," which demotivates him as he starts to doubt his leadership abilities. Finally, Orson participates in a Tactical Planning test using a simulation reminiscent of StarCraft. Despite his confidence, he loses the simulation match against Dubin, leading to surprise and disbelief from both of them regarding his chosen tactics. The chapter encapsulates Orson's physical and mental challenges while humorously highlighting his struggles and experiences during the assessments.Full content
