Chapter 586: Leading the Army into the Trap. [590]
Summary
Nanpi County, a small but strategically important location, becomes overcrowded as Gao Shi Da's troops flood in, leading to chaos. Gao Shi Da contemplates the situation, realizing that General Zhang Xuan's hesitation to attack may stem from food shortages. Amidst the turmoil, elderly residents plead for help as their homes are taken for military use. Gao Shi Da orders tents for the displaced families and learns from scouts that Zhang Xuan's army is indeed struggling with supplies. As night falls, Gao Wu Shang leads a cavalry unit to disrupt the Sui army's supply lines but falls into an ambush, trapping his forces in a valley. Gao Shi Da, alerted to the situation, faces a dilemma about rescuing his cavalry while avoiding a trap. After a heated discussion with his generals, he decides to attack Zhang Xuan's camp instead, hoping to draw the Sui army away from the valley. He splits his forces, sending one group to feign a rescue while he leads the main force towards Lianshan camp.Full content
