Summary

An Zheng, despite his fierce disposition against evil, remains passive as Ye Changkong is bullied, only observing. After Ye is helped by a steward, he expresses his frustration to a monkey that did not assist him. An Zheng, pretending to be a tourist, engages with Lan Xi and others, discussing the City Lord's recruitment due to rising dangers from demon beasts. Lan Xi expresses concern for An Zheng's safety, revealing her feelings for him. The next day, An Zheng heads to the Lord's Mansion, where he encounters a long line of applicants. His sneeze inadvertently clears the path, leading him and a brawny man into the mansion for assessment, where various hopefuls await.
