Summary

Cao Pi and Sima Yi devised a plan to drive citizens suffering from smallpox to Xin Ye City, hoping that Liu Mang would either have to accept them, damaging his reputation, or refuse them, worsening the epidemic. Deng Ai, however, refused to let the refugees enter the city, ordering food to be given to them instead. Deng Ai was determined to protect Liu Mang's efforts, as the Han Dynasty had no obligation to take in these Wei citizens. Meanwhile, the Copper Sparrow members discussed assassinating Liu Mang to save their own families, but were interrupted by the arrival of the Crown Prince, which they saw as an opportunity to act.
