Chapter 56: Dependent on Each Other [55]
Summary
As dusk fell on the second day, Bai Xiao Chun and his companions, Du Ling Fei and Hou Yun Fei, anxiously pressed forward while trying to contact their sect without success. Despite their injuries, they relied on medicinal pills salvaged from defeated enemies to keep moving. Bai Xiao Chun, filled with trepidation and pain, was comforted by Du Ling Fei, who saw his courage despite his fear of death. Their bond deepened through their shared struggle, but they remained aware of the slim chances of survival. As they continued, Hou Yun Fei calculated that they needed to escape the area before the Luo Chen Jia Zu's ritual was completed, which would summon a powerful enemy. The trio narrowly avoided detection multiple times, but exhaustion and injuries took their toll. After three days of evasion, they were ambushed by a Luo Chen Jia Zu member. Bai Xiao Chun, despite his weakened state, managed to kill the enemy before he could send a message, but was left bloodied and exhausted. Determined to escape together, Bai Xiao Chun refused to let his companions go ahead alone. They continued to evade their pursuers, and as the weather turned cold, they sought refuge in a cave. There, they lit a fire to warm themselves, and Bai Xiao Chun tried to lighten the mood with thoughts of future rewards from their sect, though the weight of their situation lingered heavily in the air.Full content
