Summary

Zhang Ye was asked to give a lecture and report at the Great Hall of Peking University, but he refused due to added requirements. Pan Yuan Chang, the Dean of the Mathematics Department, tried to persuade him, but Zhang Ye didn't budge. Meanwhile, the event attendees, including foreign mathematicians, waited for the Japanese delegation to arrive, but they were nowhere to be seen. It was later revealed that the delegation was having a meal, which caused frustration among the attendees, who had been waiting for over two hours. The event hosts, Pan Yuan Chang and Xin Ya, tried to apologize and explain the situation, but the attendees were getting restless. The Korean and German mathematicians left, and the British mathematician considered leaving but stayed because of Zhang Ye's lecture.
