Chapter 55: Demon King of the Mortal Realm. [56]
Summary
Li Su had a nightmare where his money was stolen. In his dream, he decided to go begging with a broken bowl to make up for his loss. However, his bowl was snatched by a muscular man, who turned out to be Cheng Yaojin, the Demon King, in his waking life. Li Su woke up in his bed, surrounded by familiar furniture, and was relieved to find that his concerns about his family were unwarranted. A palace maid named Lu Liu explained that Li Su's family was still harmonious and prosperous. Li Su asked about the silver pastry, which was the only thing he remembered after waking up. Old Man Li was nowhere to be found, and Cheng Yaojin appeared, praising Li Su for his bravery. Cheng Yaojin explained that he received an imperial edict to lead the army in pursuit of the secret society and was impressed by Li Su's ability to kill the leader. Li Su explained that he used the princess's hairpin to cut through the rope and launched a surprise attack. Cheng Yaojin was interested in Li Su's tactics and asked if he had studied military tactics. Li Su replied that he hadn't, and Cheng Yaojin revealed that his son had paid six taels of silver for four of Li Su's poems. Li Su was shocked to learn that the big client was actually Cheng Yaojin's son.Full content
