Chapter 544: Seizing a City [544]

Summary

Yu Long Ke has been defeated, and his followers are in disarray. Ye Li Yu Qi sees an opportunity to rise to power but is cautious, choosing to observe and wait for the right moment to strike. Meanwhile, Wang Shao, Yu Long Ke's sworn brother, mourns his death and requests a posthumous title for him. Yu Long Ke's son, Yu Zhi Cai, returns and vows to avenge his father's death, but instead of seeking revenge, he chooses to work with the Song Dynasty and is appointed as the Defense Envoy of Di Dao. Wang Shao and Wang Ning An discuss their strategy, and Wang Shao explains that in the world of politics, one must be willing to make difficult choices and sacrifices to achieve their goals. Su Shi is shocked by Wang Shao's willingness to do whatever it takes to reclaim the land for the Great Song. Wang Ning An and Wang Shao plan to capture the three castles of Daich, Kang Le, and Nan Chuan, which stand in the way of advancing into the Hehuang region. They decide to prioritize Daich, as it is the gateway to Dingqiang City and the main road to Hezhou. However, they are aware that they must act quickly, as a sudden snowfall could seal the roads and prevent them from making any advances during winter. Yu Zhi Cai is sent to deliver tribute to Qing Tang, but instead, he is met with an attack by Ye Li Yu Qi's forces. The battle is fierce, but the defenders of Daich, led by General Mu Er, are able to hold their ground. Just as reinforcements arrive, Mu Er is killed, and Daich falls to Ye Li Yu Qi's forces.
