Chapter 531: The War of the White Wolf (Part 2). [535]
Summary
The Sui Jun army launches paper projectiles containing a message from Zhang Xuan, informing Hebei soldiers that their families have been relocated to Qijun and Beihai, and urging them to surrender. Gao Kai Dao, enraged, orders an attack, but morale is low, and the Sui Jun army takes advantage of this, launching a counterattack that results in a significant loss for Gao Kai Dao's forces. Su Dingfang, leading the right flank, kills the enemy's left flank commander, Han Zhi Ming, causing further chaos and demoralization among Gao Kai Dao's troops. Zhang Xuan orders a cavalry charge, which catches Gao Kai Dao off guard, and he is unable to respond effectively. Gao Kai Dao and a few personal guards flee, while the Sui Jun army suffers over a thousand casualties but achieves a significant victory, killing six thousand enemies and capturing over seventeen thousand. Zhang Xuan captures twenty thousand sets of bright armor, which were remnants from the second Goguryeo war. Among the prisoners is Ning Shou De, Gao Kai Dao's military advisor, who is revealed to be Goguryeo and a subordinate of Yuan Tai Zuo. Zhang Xuan spares Ning Shou De's life, intending to use him for his own purposes. Pei Xingyan continues to pursue the fleeing bandits, sparing those who surrender, and sends captured prisoners back to Yancheng. By the time he reaches Liucheng, he is left with only two thousand cavalry. He meets Lu Chi Feng, the defending general of Liucheng, who recognizes Pei Xingyan's legendary reputation and expresses admiration. Pei Xingyan asks Lu Chi Feng if he knows Gao Kai Dao's whereabouts.Full content
