Chapter 529: The Emperor's Worries [529]

Summary

The chapter revolves around the surprising developments following a series of lectures by Wang Ning An, where Wang Lang, the eldest son of Wang An Shi, becomes his disciple. The unexpected alliance between Wang Ning An and Wang An Shi raises eyebrows, especially among those opposed to the Green Seedling Law, such as Jia Chang Chao and Wen Yan Bo. They hoped for a conflict between the two Wangs to create chaos. However, instead of fighting, Wang Ning An and Wang An Shi join forces, leaving their adversaries frustrated. Wang Ning An's true intentions are revealed; he seeks to assist the emperor, Zhao Zhen, in military endeavors rather than focusing on internal reforms, which he believes are impractical given the complexity of the Song Dynasty. Meanwhile, a group of children, including the little Tai Zi, are introduced into a new educational environment, where Wang Ning An is tasked with their care and instruction. As the children begin to bond, Zhao Zhen reflects on his past mistakes regarding currency policies, expressing concerns about the devaluation of jiao zi and its potential collapse.
