Chapter 512: All Is Illusion. [512]

Summary

In a tense confrontation at a Buddhist temple, Xuanzang, an imperial envoy, challenges the morality of the monks, who justify their violent actions by claiming victims deserve their fate due to past sins. Xuanzang argues that suffering cannot be dismissed as mere destiny and questions the righteousness of those who commit evil while claiming moral superiority. The abbot, attempting to guide Xuanzang, speaks of letting go of attachments and enduring suffering, but Xuanzang sees this as a justification for inhumane acts. As tensions rise, Xuanzang's allies prepare to defend him against the monks, revealing the complexity of morality and suffering in their world.
