Summary

The narrator feels anxious in a dim mango grove after hearing desperate cries. He encounters a gun-wielding young man named Meng Dong, who is desperate for food and water after being lost for half a month. The narrator reluctantly becomes Meng Dong's servant under threat of the gun. After a long struggle, they reach a beach where Meng Dong joyfully reunites with Lin Yu Xuan, but he orders the narrator to find food while asserting his claim over Lin Yu Xuan.
