Chapter 5: Heaven is Honest with Her [4]
Summary
Shen Jiao dreams of her grandpa, who appears younger and without his beard. In her dream, she feels small and often cries, recalling how she used to cry a lot but stopped after a family incident. Strange people surround her, some hostile, but her grandpa is the only one who loves her. Shen Jiao reflects on her foolishness in the dream, giving away her grandpa's belongings to deceitful relatives. Eventually, her grandpa retrieves her things, bringing her happiness. The dream takes a darker turn with the arrival of fierce students from Kyoto, who threaten her grandpa over a jade bowl. Shen Jiao panics when she realizes the heirloom is missing, waking up in tears. To her surprise, a jade bowl appears in her hand, containing two soul-reviving pills instead of one. She realizes that the man she thought was her grandpa is actually not him but his reincarnation, as she remembers her past life as a young lady of the Shen family from five hundred years ago. Shen Jiao finds comfort in the belief that she and her grandpa have reincarnated together. She sees her resemblance to her great-grandmother and feels grateful for their connection, bowing to the heavens in gratitude for their second chance.Full content
