Summary

Zhang Xutuo, recovering from his wounds, learns of the Sui Dynasty's betrayal and the defeat of his troops due to a deception orchestrated by Yang Qing. Despite his injuries, he decides to return to the capital to seek justice. Along the way, his condition worsens, and he receives treatment from a reluctant doctor. After stabilizing at Hulao Pass, officials arrive with an imperial decree that strips Zhang Xutuo of his title and condemns him for the defeat. Overcome with rage and despair upon hearing the decree, he succumbs to his injuries and dies, leaving Luo Shixin devastated.
