Summary
The chapter describes the aftermath of the Battle of Jiangling, where many prominent generals were killed, including Xiahou Dun. Cao Cao is devastated by the loss of his close comrades, especially Xiahou Dun, and faints upon hearing the news. Cao Ren takes responsibility for the defeat, but Cao Cao does not blame him. Cao Pi, Cao Cao's heir, prevents Cao Zhi, Cao Cao's other son, from visiting their ailing father, fearing Cao Zhi may try to usurp the position of heir. Cao Zhi remains outside the Wei royal residence, saddened by his inability to see his father.
