Chapter 483: The Pearl of the King. [487]

Summary

Zhang Xuan urgently contacted Wei Yun Qi to recruit soldiers under the guise of aiding the king while maintaining his original plan to return to Qingzhou. After resting in Taiyuan, he led his troops to the capital, where discussions about the alliance meeting were rampant. At a restaurant, he overheard rumors about military leaders not aiding the king, prompting him to seek clarification from Wei Jin, the Ministry of War's secretary. Wei Jin revealed that Zhang Xu Tuo and Yang Yi Chen had reasons for their inaction, primarily concerns about the Wagang army and ongoing battles, respectively. As the conversation progressed, they speculated on the potential consequences for these leaders. Zhang Xuan remained committed to his plans and tasked Yang Shan Hui with representing him. Meanwhile, Yu Shi Ji received a visit from Xia Hou Yan, who brought a mysterious pearl from Zhang Xuan, which turned out to be a legendary night pearl. This prompted Yu Shi Ji to consider Zhang Xuan's request for assistance in returning to Qingzhou and transporting injured soldiers. Ultimately, Yu Shi Ji decided to return the pearl and gold previously given to him, expressing his desire to befriend Zhang Xuan.
