Summary

In early Republican Era China, Zhang Qiu Lian, a child bride to Qian Fu Hai, was forcibly taken by a wounded warlord during wartime. Despite their deep love, she was unable to resist. Qian Fu Hai, driven by devotion, secretly followed her and eventually rose to regiment commander, rescuing her after the warlord's defeat. Tragically, feeling "impure", Zhang Qiu Lian committed suicide on their wedding night.
