Summary

Chen Ping An, a young messenger, frequently delivers letters in a town where he is well-known. As he jogs past the Li Family's mansion, he reflects on local anecdotes shared by an elderly steward, including news about a beautiful girl at the Li Family and a formidable old monkey at Zheng Yang Shan. Chen Ping An contemplates provoking the monkey to test its strength, despite knowing he might not survive. Meanwhile, the young girl Tao Zi, cherished by her family for her swordsmanship potential, feels bored and isolated in her new surroundings. She interacts with a neglected snake-catching eagle, which has not eaten for days, highlighting her own feelings of confinement and discontent.
