Summary

In the Li Xiang Courtyard, Wei Han Lin, impatient due to official duties, awaited a greeting from the Xue Family. Meanwhile, Aunt Xue and Bao Chai were anxious about hosting him. Jia Huan was summoned to entertain Wei, who brought news of an engagement annulment concerning Xue Baoqin. Despite his foul temper, Wei handled the situation properly. After delivering the letter, he left, and Jia Huan informed Aunt Xue of the news. Reflecting on the unfortunate fate of Xue Baoqin, Jia Huan felt indifferent to Aunt Xue's lamentations. Later, Dai Yu, feeling melancholic about Jia Huan's absence, visited a flower mound, recalling her poetry and her tangled emotions regarding him.
