Chapter 476: The Abandoned Cui Family [476]
Summary
The Xixia cavalry invaded the Great Song territory, brutally massacring villages and enslaving the populace. Wang Shao, furious at the atrocities, is admonished by Wang Ning An, who urges him to remain composed and strategize rather than act impulsively. Wang Ning An explains the nature of the Xixia vassal army, hinting at political rifts within Xixia and the strategic use of young nobles as cannon fodder. Despite their limited forces, Wang Ning An prepares to attack the Xixia army. Meanwhile, Mei Cang Hong Yang, a ruthless commander, leads his troops into Kaolang Village, plundering and demanding tribute from the Cui family. The Cui family, despite their humiliation, attempts to appease him by offering their daughters. Cui Xi Feng, desperate to regain power, rationalizes the sacrifices as necessary for future dominance, while Cui Zhi is outraged by the situation. As tensions rise, news arrives of the Zong family army approaching, prompting the Xixia forces to retreat unexpectedly, leaving Cui Xi Feng in despair.Full content
