Summary

In the quiet inner city of Kaifeng, Han Gang bids farewell to Wang Anshi's residence, riding a borrowed horse. Accompanied by a young soldier, he reflects on the desolate state of the inner city, noting its crumbling walls compared to the outer city's sturdiness. As they navigate through the dark streets, they encounter drunken revelers and food stalls. Han Gang meets Liu Zhong Wu and Lu Ming, who are intoxicated and boastful. Despite their envy of his connection to Wang Anshi, Han Gang remains grounded, recognizing his own abilities rather than relying on familial ties. He resolves to seek strength within himself, dismissing the cold reception he received.
