Summary

Du Fuwei is awakened by General Wang Xiong Dan, who reports that the Sui army, led by Zhang Xuan, is only fifty miles away at Bao'an Town. After confirming the intelligence, Du Fuwei realizes that Zhang Xuan's movements may be a trap to lure them into a vulnerable position. He convenes his advisors, who suggest retreating to Huai Nan instead of engaging in a potentially disastrous battle. Despite having superior numbers, they agree that Zhang Xuan's strategy could exploit their weaknesses. Du Fuwei orders an immediate retreat. Meanwhile, Zhang Xuan, aware of the bandits' retreat, decides to follow them at a distance, planning to exhaust their supplies before striking. As Du Fuwei's army runs low on supplies, they too must abandon their plans and return to Huai Nan, while Zhang Xuan heads north to gather resources.
