Summary

In Changqing County, Li Yan Qing leads a troop of soldiers by the Changqing River, reflecting on the desolation of the land due to years of rebellion. He learns of Song Jiang's breakout and feels anger towards Tong Guan for undermining their efforts. A young traveler, Yang Guang, delivers a letter from Wang Gui, who expresses his disdain for Tong Guan and his intention to leave. Li Yan Qing decides to support Wang Gui's transfer to Qizhou, believing the Liangshan army poses no threat anymore. Wang Gui departs with two thousand local soldiers, while Li Yan Qing plans to request leave from Tong Guan, knowing it will likely be granted. He arrives at Yun Cheng, where Tong Guan attempts to persuade him to stay, but Li Yan Qing sees through his manipulation and maintains his decision to leave. Tong Guan ultimately approves Li Yan Qing's leave request, expressing a desire to reconcile.
