Summary

The chapter discusses the political maneuvering and military strategies surrounding Li Yan Qing and Tong Guan during a tumultuous period. Meanwhile, Zhong Shi Dao, previously in charge, has been replaced by Tong Guan, who underestimates the Liangshan army's precarious food situation. As the Liangshan forces face starvation, Song Jiang learns of the leadership change and sees a chance for escape. With dwindling supplies, Song Jiang decides to break out of Xucheng, planning a surprise attack on the enemy. Despite Tong Guan's stubbornness and disregard for advice, he believes the Liangshan army is attempting a raid. As the Liangshan troops execute their breakout plan under the cover of night, they surge out of the South City Gate, seizing their opportunity amidst the chaos.
