Chapter 43: The Scripture of Aoi Stone. [46]
Summary
Chai Shao's dormitory in the royal palace is superior to that of an ordinary guard, featuring a private courtyard with a large locust tree. Zhang Xuan, who recently moved in, admires it but jokes about the noise the tree brings. Chai Shao gifts Zhang Xuan a blue stone slab containing the Qing Shi Jing, a valuable martial arts technique that aids in post-natal power cultivation. Zhang Xuan, initially disheartened by his martial arts training, feels grateful for this rare opportunity. He learns that his improved status in the palace comes with better living conditions and financial support. Zhang Xuan decides to bury his handgun, symbolizing his commitment to adapt to his new environment, while he explores the Qing Shi Jing, which contains illustrations and instructions for martial arts training. He discovers that the technique belonged to Zhang Zhong Jian, raising questions about its origins. The slab also includes a detailed recipe for Yi Jin medicine, prompting Zhang Xuan to seek the necessary herbs in the city. At Bai Wei Tang, the largest pharmacy, he faces challenges with the recipe but manages to procure most of the herbs, spending a significant amount of money. He returns to the Yan Wang residence, where he encounters Chai Shao, who has been looking for him.Full content
