Summary

Shi Mu and Yan Luo decide to hide and observe the Mingshui Lake, where undead creatures gather for deathly energy. They witness a white-boned beast being captured by a gray bone bird, which then wreaks havoc on the surrounding undead. As the bird attempts to escape, it is ambushed by the Dagger Spirit, injuring its wing. Shi Mu and Yan Luo join the fray, pursuing the bird for three days until they reach a volcanic region. There, the volcano reveals itself to be a giant Gu Chong, which awakens and consumes the Gu Niao and other skeletons. Yan Luo is determined to retrieve her bone from the Gu Chong, despite the danger, leading to a discussion about strategy. The Gu Chong displays immense power, attacking a tall skeleton that briefly confronts it. The chapter ends with Shi Mu's Dagger Spirit striking the Gu Chong before fleeing.
