Chapter 41: Candied Hawthorn. [40]
Summary
Old Fang, initially confused about the purpose of picking sour hawthorn and chopping bamboo, soon found motivation in the promise of a meal. As he and his children worked on making candied hawthorn, the villagers mocked their efforts, deeming it a foolish venture. Despite the ridicule, Old Fang remained determined, buoyed by his son-in-law Li Yi's support. With simple preparation, they created appealing candied hawthorn skewers. Old Fang took to the streets of Qing'an Prefecture to sell their creation, calling out to passersby, hoping to turn their mockery into success.Full content
