Summary

Lu Shen is surprised by the arrival of an old eunuch from the palace, who informs him that his granddaughter, Lu Zhuo's daughter, Lu Qing, is summoned by the Empress for an audience. The eunuch's demeanor changes after receiving a bribe of twenty taels of gold, revealing that the Empress is interested in Lu Qing due to her upcoming marriage. Lu Shen reassures Lu Zhuo about the safety of their daughter, believing the Empress's interest is politically motivated. Lu Qing and her mother arrive at the palace, where Lu Qing feels nervous but is comforted by her mother. Inside, she meets the little princess, Yang Ji Er, who brings her relief. The Empress warmly greets Lu Qing, expressing interest in her education and marriage. She presents Lu Qing with a congratulatory gift for her wedding, and after some pleasantries, Lu Qing and her mother are escorted out of the palace.
