Chapter 40: Departure Song, Lyrics by Song, You Know Me, I Don't Have a Fondness for Long Yang. [40]

Summary

The passage describes a scene in the Cui Yuan Building where Xu Shao Cong pays 300 taels of silver to take a test to see Miss Li Ge, a highly sought-after woman whose true beauty is rarely witnessed. Accompanied by Ci Song, Xu enters a room with a screen hiding Li Ge. Despite lacking traditional talents, Xu is content simply to glimpse her silhouette. Ci Song offers to help Xu by writing something to potentially impress Li Ge, humorously suggesting he could dress as a woman for a cheaper fee if Xu is desperate to see a woman's form.
