Summary

A week later, at 9 PM, the narrator enters an elevator where a security guard remains while a woman exits. Upon reaching the forty-third floor, the narrator notices the elevator is empty after tying a shoelace. Despite feeling uneasy about working late due to a recent light sensitivity, she recalls her fiancé, Yin Shuan, who arranged accommodations for her work. As her colleagues Ellie and Jie leave, Ellie heads to the restroom but takes too long to return. After attempting to contact her, the narrator hears strange dripping sounds. Concerned, she enters the dark restroom, finding the lights out, and uses her dim phone flashlight to search for Ellie.
