Chapter 4: Not Entering the Ancestral Tomb. [4]

Summary

Elder Dao harshly confronts Chen San San, lifting him effortlessly despite the boy's size. After a violent exchange, Dao fills the deceased Chen Old Dog's body with incense ash, provoking San San's fury. Despite his anger, San San is powerless against Dao's intimidation, who threatens him and demands a grave be dug in the house instead of the ancestral tomb. Conflicted but obedient to his father's wishes, San San reluctantly complies, digging a pit as ordered, driven by fear and respect for his father. After hours of labor, he returns to find an unsettling scene awaiting him.
