Chapter 4: Hala Hot. [100]

Summary

Old Wang, a seemingly simple cook, shares a legendary tale about the Black General and the Iron Hawk army during the Western Xia period. He recounts how Genghis Khan besieged Xing Qing Fu, fearing the formidable Iron Hawk Women’s Army led by a powerful woman known as the Black General. Two interpretations of the Iron Hawks exist: one depicting them as fierce female soldiers, the other as reanimated corpses. The Black General ultimately buried treasures to prevent Mongolian capture and set fire to Black Water City. The story serves as a cautionary tale about unrealistic wealth-seeking dreams. Later, Qin Xing Ping seeks the Hute people's tribe, receiving directions to a local market for leads. After some interactions, they meet Old Gan, whose daughter works for a newspaper, setting the stage for further developments.
