Summary

On a cold winter night, Mo Yan shares roasted sweet potatoes with his neighbor, old man Li, and encounters Lu Shu, who is buying instant noodles for his sister, Lu Xiao Yu. After some playful banter, Lu Shu returns injured from being hit by a car. Later, they discover a fire kid outside and consider how to handle him. They decide to tease him for money he previously took from them. After Liang Che, the fire kid, pleads for mercy, he pays them off and escapes. Mo Yan dreams of a mysterious figure during the night and wakes up to find Lu Shu has changed, carrying eggs with ease, prompting Mo Yan to question his newfound strength.
