Summary

In a village, an old man and a young man named Du Yu face a crowd of villagers who initially seem hostile. The old man, known for his bravery, is encouraged by Du Yu to put down his pole. The villagers, instead of attacking, offer food and hospitality. Du Yu warns them about a dangerous water monster hiding in the village, prompting the villagers to search for it. However, when asked how to leave, they discover that the villagers have never left. The old man cleverly deduces a possible escape route through a "rabbit path." As they prepare to leave, Du Yu contemplates the uncertainty of returning home, but remains hopeful about future encounters.
