Summary

On June 13th, heavy rain fell, easing by the next afternoon. Jia Baoyu returned home, displeased after finding his teacher occupied with Jia Huan. Inside, Xi Ren, gentle and caring, advised Baoyu to avoid Jia Huan, who was cunning and rebellious. Meanwhile, Jia Lan discussed his studies with his mother, Li Wan, who emphasized the importance of education. They noted Jia Huan's ambition to take the imperial examination, which required intense study of the Four Books and Five Classics. Li Wan cautioned Jia Lan against getting too close to Jia Huan, aware of the latter's troubled situation.
