Chapter 385: The Divine Doctor, Like the God of Wealth [386]
Summary
Dong Da Jie takes Shen Jiao and others to her uncle's siheyuan in the suburbs, where he lives a leisurely life growing herbs. Upon arrival, they find the courtyard reminiscent of traditional Kyoto architecture. Shen Jiao is surprised by her uncle, Dong Fang Zheng, who appears more like the God of Wealth than the esteemed Divine Doctor she expected. Dong Fang Zheng is initially grumpy and dismissive, frustrated with his niece's daily visits and the lack of capable disciples in the family. Despite his bad mood, he becomes curious about Shen Jiao when he learns she prepared medicine for Dong Da Jie. Shen Jiao introduces herself respectfully, revealing her connection to the well-known merchant Shen Jia Xing. However, she reacts defensively when Dong Fang Zheng refers to her grandfather as a "cunning merchant," asserting her respect for him. The chapter highlights the dynamics between the characters and sets the stage for potential mentorship.Full content
