Summary

The Clan Chief of the Flood Dragon commanded his army to retreat into the city, leading the imperial soldiers to believe they had abandoned their fortifications. However, the Clan Chief opened a lake dike, flooding the area and surrounding his city with water, making it impossible for the imperial army to attack. The Right Army Commander, realizing the futility of a siege, redirected his forces to the Great Lord City of the Wu Clan, which was deserted upon their arrival. The imperial army searched the city and began clearing the countryside, confiscating weapons and capturing resistors. Reports indicated that the Great Lord of the Wu Clan had distributed provisions and fled, while local clans began recruiting troops to resist the imperial court. The Right Army Commander proposed inviting the Liang Clan Chief to lead the Wu Clan under imperial authority, and after receiving approval from the imperial court, they delivered the edict to appoint him as the new ruler.
