Chapter 37: Rescue. [484]

Summary

Lin Ruo Han is shocked to learn from Tian Long that the tribal totem spirit will reveal miraculous signs, potentially leading to ancient relics. She pleads with him to save captured Earthlings from being sacrificed, but he dismisses her, revealing he is not an Earthling. As the natives prepare for the sacrifice, Jessica and Sa Wa Na, bound to a cross, express their fears and love for each other. Just as the flames engulf them, a boy appears in the sky, claiming they are his prisoners of war and punishing the natives. He commands that the captured warriors be made slaves for a hundred days. The natives kneel in terror, and a woman jumps into the fire, believing it will absolve her sins. The boy, Yue Chen, extinguishes the flames and ponders the dragon statue resembling those in Chinese legends. Jessica and Sa Wa Na, bewildered by the events, consider the possibility of Yue Chen being a powerful being from Eastern mythology, realizing their worldview has been drastically altered.
