Summary

Meng Rang attends a banquet at the Faqing Tavern to celebrate General Zhao Liang's son's third birthday, where he tries to win favor with Zhao Liang and Chen Hai Shi. Meng Rang plans to conduct a large-scale search of the city to root out Sui scouts and needs Chen Hai Shi's support. However, Chen Hai Shi and Zhao Liang secretly plot against Meng Rang, and Zhao Liang poisons the wine, knocking out Meng Rang and the other generals. Zhao Liang then beheads Meng Rang, and the city gates are opened to welcome the Sui army. Zhang Xuan and his troops enter the city, and Chen Hai Shi and Zhao Liang surrender to him. Zhang Xuan praises their contributions and tasks Chen Hai Shi with guarding Lin Yi County and Zhao Liang with accompanying him to attack Wang Bao.
