Chapter 366: Song-Xia Peace Negotiations. [370]
Summary
After the war, Western Xia cavalrymen delivered a letter to General Zhong Shi Dao of the Great Song Dynasty, proposing peace negotiations. During a strategy meeting, Zhong Shi Dao emphasized the need to reinforce the city gates, suggesting the construction of inner cities. Lieutenant Li Yan Qing proposed a more efficient plan of building inner gates and sloped openings to defend against enemy attacks. The generals debated the merits of both plans, ultimately deciding to implement Li Yan Qing's strategy. Following the letter's arrival, the generals agreed to allow Western Xia to collect the dead, believing the war was nearing its end. Meanwhile, Li Yan Qing visited his injured comrade, Wang Gui, who expressed concerns about his injuries and future battles. Li Yan Qing reassured him about potential promotions and discussed Wang Gui's aspirations for the martial arts examination. The chapter concluded with Li Yan Qing mourning the damage to his trusted bow, which had been irreparably cracked.Full content
