Summary

Zhang Ye wakes up late and rushes to get ready for Wu Ze Qing's birthday party. He doesn't have time to buy a gift and decides to go empty-handed. Upon arrival, he meets Su Na, a colleague from the Chinese department, who is attending with her father, a member of the calligraphy association. Zhang Ye learns that the gathering is not just a birthday party, but also the 31st anniversary of the calligraphy association's founding. He feels embarrassed for not bringing a gift, but Su Na reassures him that many people won't bring gifts either. Zhang Ye remembers that he had eaten a skill book for calligraphy the night before and feels confident that his handwriting is not bad. He decides to write a poem as a gift. The scene shifts to the backyard of the Rice Mansion, where various famous calligraphy works are on display.
